# API rules and limits

These rules apply to the AhoosAI API and to the online studio. They complement the [Terms of use](https://ahoos-ai.site/services/studio/terms.html) and the [Privacy notice](https://ahoos-ai.site/services/studio/privacy.html). By using the API you accept them.

## Usage limits {#limits}

- Each API key may use **100,000 tokens per calendar month**. Input and output tokens both count, including the model's reasoning and the steps of web search.
- The month is counted in UTC and starts on the first day of each month.
- When the limit is reached, requests are refused with status `429` until the next month begins.
- Answers in the online studio count against your account's base key.
- Current usage and limits are shown on the [platform](https://ahoos-ai.site/services/platforme/). Limits may change; the platform always shows the values in force.

## API keys {#keys}

- A key is shown once, when it is created. AhoosAI stores only a hash of it and cannot show it again.
- Keep keys secret. Do not place them in web pages, mobile apps or public repositories, where others can read them.
- You are responsible for all use of your keys. If a key may have been exposed, revoke it on the platform and create a new one.

## Acceptable use {#acceptable-use}

You may not use the API or the studio:

- to break the law, or to harm, harass, deceive or impersonate others;
- to create malware or to attack systems;
- to produce sexual content involving minors;
- to overload the service, or to get around its limits, including by creating additional accounts or keys for that purpose.

Access that breaks these rules may be suspended without notice.

## Responsibility for output {#output}

Answers are generated by an AI model. They can be wrong, incomplete or out of date, including code and search results. Check anything you rely on, and do not use answers in place of professional advice. You are responsible for how you use them.

## Data {#data}

- Requests are answered by AhoosAI's own models, running under AhoosAI's own account. They are not sent to any third-party model provider.
- The API does not store the content of requests or answers. For each key, the number of tokens used and the time of last use are recorded.
- Chats in the online studio are stored in your account until you delete them; each account keeps its latest 20 chats.
- Your content is not used to train models.
- When web search is used, search queries are sent to public search engines, and pages are fetched from their own sites.

## Availability {#availability}

The API is in beta and is provided free of charge, as it is. It may be slow, paused for maintenance or changed without notice, and no level of availability is guaranteed.
